Nanotech Energy, a developer of graphene-based batteries, has announced the construction of a new 517-acre battery manufacturing plant in the Tahoe Reno Industrial Center, Nevada, US.
The 1,000,000+ square-feet plant will initially produce 2.5 gigawatt hours of batteries and is expected to scale up to 15 gigawatt hours over the years. The factory will also produce other graphene-powered products, including electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding, transparent conducting electrodes, conductive inks, conductive adhesives, and silver nanowires.
The initial phase of the factory is expected to open in Q4 2022, and it is currently taking battery pre-orders. Production is planned to start in 2023, with a full ramp-up supposed to be commencing in 2024.
