Fluence and Münch Energie to build battery-based energy storage system in Germany

Partnerships

  • Fluence, a Nasdaq-listed company offering long-duration energy storage solutions and AI-enabled energy storage optimization software, has collaborated with Münch Energie, a German-based decentralized energy supplier and developer of photovoltaic power plants, to supply an 11.7 MWh/34 MWh battery-based energy storage system.

  • The project will co-locate Fluence’s Gridstack energy storage system, integrated with a 34 MW solar plant in Merseburg, Eastern Germany. Once the transition is completed, the project will be connected to the electricity grid using a customized transformer station. This enables Münch Energie to participate in the secondary reserve market (aFFR). The project is expected to be completed in April 2023.

  • The project is deployed under the German Innovation Tender and plans to supply renewable and cost-effective energy for up to 5,000 households for an entire day.

This project supported Taipower’s Automatic Frequency Control (AFC) services and is expected to become Fluence’s largest ACF project in Taiwan.</ul>
