Anaergia, a TSX-listed waste-to-energy company, has partnered with Toyo Energy Solution, a subsidiary of Toyo Group, a Japanese real estate and construction provider, to deploy a biogas facility in Okayama, Japan.
The new facility will convert 250 tons of cow manure per day from Okayama Prefecture Farms, to power a combined heat and power (CHP) generator system, by utilizing Anaergia’s proprietary digestion technology. The CHP system will produce 1.2 megawatts of renewable electricity.
Under the agreement, Anaergia will design, engineer, install and commission the facility, while Toyo Energy Solution will back the project as the engineering, procurement, and construction contractor.

Analyst QuickTake : The company had built an initial facility for Toyo in Yabu City, Japan, that converted farm and food waste into renewable energy in January 2018. The new Okayama project is Anaergia’s second deployment with Toyo Energy Solution. Anaergia also commissioned its second biomethane facility “Calimera Bio” in Italy, to convert 24,000 tons of organic waste into 2.19 million cubic meters of renewable natural gas (RNG) per annum.
