Kontempo, a Mexican startup offering B2B BNPL solutions has raised USD 31.5 million in a seed funding round (equity – USD 6.5 million and debt – USD 25 million). The round was led by Canadian venture capital firm Portage with participation from Scor P&C Ventures, Upper90, Ignia, Tectonic Ventures, and Asymmetric Capital Partners.
The proceeds will be used to hire staff (i.e. double its 11-person team by the end of 2022), grow its merchant network, and develop the platform’s technology.

Analyst QuickTake : Kontempo’s round follows a series of fresh funding for B2B BNPL providers including Mondu , Hokodo , Tranch , Treyd , and Debite . It is notable that most of these players have a presence in the US and European markets. Kontempo stands to benefit from being one of a handful of companies in coverage to offer B2B solutions in the Latin American region.
