Lucid launches new EV performance brand Sapphire

Product updates

 • Lucid Group, a Nasdaq-listed passenger EV maker, has launched Sapphire, its new ultra-high-performance brand, with the new Lucid Air Sapphire, the world’s first fully electric luxury super-sports sedan.

 • Lucid Air Sapphire’s three-motor powertrain operates at over 1,200 hp, making it the brand’s most powerful model and the most powerful sedan globally. It is able to accelerate from a standstill to 60 mph in less than two seconds, from zero to 100 mph in less than four seconds, and the standing quarter mile in under 9 seconds.

 • The Lucid Air Sapphire is priced at USD 249,000 and will be offered as a limited-production model. Lucid is opening reservations for the model on the 23rd of August 2022 and plans to begin production 1H 2023 with the aim of beginning deliveries to the US and Canada the same year.

Sapphire will be a performance-focused sub-brand within Lucid, with the company already planning additional Sapphire models for all Lucid vehicles . This launch comes after Lucid recently announced that it has lowered its production forecast for 2022 for the second time, to 6,000–7,000 units from its previous target of 12,000–14,000 due to global supply chain and logistics challenges.
