Sulapac, a Finnish bioplastic packaging startup, and Schwan Cosmetics, a German multinational developer and producer of cosmetic pencils, have partnered to launch a plant-based enclosing barrel called the “BetterBarrel” for the latter’s cosmetic pencils and eyeliners.
BetterBarrel is made from Sulapac’s “Flow v1.8” material which uses plant-based binders and residual sawdust from industrial side streams. The BetterBarrel reportedly contains up to 72% bio-based content without compromising on performance, quality, or style compared to plastic. This is also the first time Sulapac’s materials have been used in cosmetic color pencils.
