First production verification prototype ‘Volta Zero’ truck rolls out from manufacturing plant in Austria

Product updates

  • Volta Trucks, a Sweden-based developer of fully electric trucks, has completed manufacturing of its first second-generation fully electric “Volta Zero” production verification prototype truck in Steyr, Austria.

  • This truck is the first of a series and will be a part of Volta’s pilot fleet of trucks, which will be trailed with customers later this year and early next year.

  • The company plans to commence series production in early 2023.

  • Analyst QuickTake: Volta Trucks partnered with commercial vehicle manufacturer Steyr Automotive (formerly MAN Truck and Bus Austria) a year ago to manufacture Volta trucks in Steyr. At the time, the company was planning to start customer trials by mid-2022 and commence series production by late 2022, which has now been pushed back a bit further.
