Volta Trucks, a Sweden-based developer of fully electric trucks, has completed manufacturing of its first second-generation fully electric “Volta Zero” production verification prototype truck in Steyr, Austria.
This truck is the first of a series and will be a part of Volta’s pilot fleet of trucks, which will be trailed with customers later this year and early next year.
The company plans to commence series production in early 2023.
Analyst QuickTake: Volta Trucks partnered with commercial vehicle manufacturer Steyr Automotive (formerly MAN Truck and Bus Austria) a year ago to manufacture Volta trucks in Steyr. At the time, the company was planning to start customer trials by mid-2022 and commence series production by late 2022, which has now been pushed back a bit further.
