Wejo, a mobility data provider, partnered with NIRA Dynamics, a subsidiary of CARIAD (a part of the Volkswagen Group) and developer of signal processing and control systems, to launch two new solutions, Road Health, and Winter Road Insights, to improve road safety measures across the US and Europe.   

The new solutions, powered by NIRA Dynamics, are expected to aggregate data and generate insights to support governments pivoting to proactive methods of road safety. This includes 1) Road Health, which collects real-time road information such as road friction, roughness, potholes, and road bumps to create a view of the road surface to help in understanding the maintenance needs of transportation infrastructure, and 2) Winter Road Insights provides weather-based alerts like temperature data, slippery alerts to inform salting, road closures, and snow removal plans, to ensure that commuters are enabled to make informed decisions.

Analyst QuickTake: Wejo stated that it aims to continue to expand its product offering to provide more customers with greater accessibility to connected vehicle data. This supports Wejo’s partnership with context-aware vehicular network applications developer Roadside Telematics Corp in August 2022 to deliver “Wejo RTTI,” a real-time traffic intelligence tool, designed to provide access to traffic data for first responders and curbside emergency assistance providers.
