Stratasys, a provider of end-to-end additive manufacturing (AM) solutions, including the sale of printer systems and on-demand manufacturing services, announced the acquisition of software company Riven, to offer production-scale additive manufacturing solutions.
Riven’s cloud-based quality assurance software will be integrated with Stratasys’ GrabCAD platform to inspect, diagnose, and automatically correct deviations between CAD files and actual 3D printed parts.
This will help users to print more accurate parts at a lower overall cost when scaling-up production.
Analyst QuickTake: Last month Stratasys merged its subsidiary MakerBot with 3D printing solutions provider Ultimaker forming a new entity targeting desktop 3D printing. The acquisition of Riven targets a different segment focused on scaled production, which indicates that the company is looking at different avenues for growth.
