Desktop Metal, a seller of 3D printers and related products, announced the broad availability of Shop System Forust Edition, a high-speed 3D printer for upcycled wood parts.
The system was first launched in May last year offering beta printer system deliveries with an online storefront serving customers with custom parts.
The binder jetting technology uses unfinished sawdust byproducts from the wood milling industry to make functional, end-use wood parts targeting various applications like lighting, decor, and automotive interiors.
The system also includes building prep software offering five printable wood grain patterns, a de-powdering station, and other necessary tools.
Analyst QuickTake: Desktop Metal continues to expand its product line-up targeting various industries. Earlier this month, the company received FDA clearance for a resin that targets healthcare applications. On a separate note, in August this year, Desktop Metal upgraded its Shop System for improved functionality–the platform on which the new Forust Edition is based.
