Carbon Engineering, a Canadian direct air capture (DAC) and air-to-fuel (ATF) startup, received millions in investment from aviation leaders, Airbus and Air Canada, to support the development of Carbon Engineering’s DAC technology.
The investment will support the ongoing development work at Carbon Engineering’s Innovation center in Squamish, Canada. This center earmarks the world’s largest DAC research and development facility. The facility leverages Carbon Engineering’s DAC process to support carbon dioxide removal (CDR) projects and the production of sustainable aviation fuel from CO2.
Analyst QuickTake: This investment follows Airbus' purchase of 400,000 tons of carbon removal credits in March 2022 from 1PointFive, a DAC joint venture that leverages Carbon Engineering’s DAC technology.
