Lordstown Motors, a developer of light-duty battery-electric pickup trucks for commercial fleets, has started delivering its all-electric “Endurance” pickup trucks, manufactured in partnership with Taiwanese manufacturer Foxconn, to its customers.
The company has obtained necessary approvals from the US Environmental Policy Agence (EPA) and California Air Resouces Board (CARB) to commence shipping.
The companies intend to make 500 trucks as its first batch of which the first 30 units are expected to be delivered within the year and the remainder in 1H 2023.
Analyst QuickTake: The commencement of vehicle deliveries marks a significant milestone for Lordstown Motors, especially for a company that faced several hurdles along the way including investigations, management changes, and capital shortages. Meanwhile, peer startup Rivian began delivering its electric pickup trucks in 2021, and has so far delivered 12,500+ units to its customers.
