Cognitec, a German provider of facial recognition solutions, announced the upgrade of its facial recognition hardware FaceVACS-Entry with presentation attack detection (PAD) capabilities (to ensure a live person is interacting with the device) and the ability to compare live faces with images.
With the upgrade, the company targets applications like eGates, desks, kiosks, free-standing pillars, and border control booths that use facial recognition for verification.
Analyst QuickTake: The news comes about a year after access control systems provider SALTO acquired Cognitec , however, the company operated on its own serving both commercial and government customers. Previously in 2021, Cognitec also upgraded its main facial recognition algorithm to improve accuracy when detecting masked faces.
