Convoy, a digital freight matching platform, announced its third round of layoffs within a year. The company also announced plans to close its Atlanta office.
The changes are part of the company's plan to change its customer service model while also focusing on increasing the efficiency and profitability of the business.
Convoy previously announced layoffs in October and June 2022, citing economic uncertainty and the possibility of a recession.
Analyst QuickTake : Convoy is the latest truck tech player to announce layoffs in 2023. In January Uber Freight laid off 3% of its workforce citing a drop in demand arising from negative economic conditions, while Waymo announced layoffs for a limited number of roles with plans to temporarily pull back on fully autonomous deployment for freight trucking. Meanwhile in February Rivian announced a second round of layoffs in order to adjust to challenging economic conditions and pricing pressures.
