Amazon launches its Just Walk Out technology for the first time at a higher education institution

Partnerships

  • Amazon has launched its Just Walk Out technology at a new checkout-free store at  Marymount University, Arlington, marking the technology’s debut at a higher education institution.

  • The store, named Saints 24, offers a variety of items that includes food options such as sandwiches, wraps, salads, sushi, yogurt, and ice cream, as well as other items such as toiletries and feminine hygiene products.

  • Analyst QuickTake : Amazon recently announced plans to slow the expansion of its Just Walk Out and Amazon One-powered brick-and-mortar stores with plans to close certain Amazon Fresh and Go stores with low-growth potential. However, initiatives such as launching the new Saints 24 store and launching Just Walk Out and Amazon One solutions at Kansas City International Airport indicate the company’s focus on growing its automated store solutions via partnerships.
