Israel-based cultivated meat producer Believer Meats announced the appointment of Gustavo Burger as the chief executive officer (CEO) effective immediately, succeeding Nicole Johnson-Hoffman, who had left the company to pursue new opportunities.
Before being appointed CEO, Gustavo served as the chief operating officer (COO) of Believer Meats since January 2022. Gustavo is a food and beverage industry veteran with experience in leadership roles at major multinationals including BRF, Anheuser-Busch InBev, and, most recently, at The Kraft Heinz Company.
Kash Muthuraman will succeed Gustavo as the new COO of the company, after previously serving as the vice president of operations.
Analyst QuickTake: The appointment of the new CEO comes months after the company announced breaking ground of a 200,000 sq ft cultivated meat production facility in Wilson, North Carolina, claimed to be the largest cultivation meat facility in the world, with an annual capacity of more than 10,000 metric tons (~22 million lbs). In his previous role as COO, Gustavo played a pivotal role in pioneering the groundbreaking of the company's production facility.
