Agility Robotics, a developer of bipedal robots, unveiled its next generation of “Digit,” a multi-purpose humanoid robot designed for logistics work. The unit was showcased at the ProMat 2023 trade show in Chicago.
The robots are equipped with sensors on the sides, two LED eyes on the front, and another light on the back for autonomous navigation.
The company is also opening up a limited partner program where partnering companies can help develop Digit’s skills and abilities and purchase the units. The company intends to start shipping the robots to its partners in early 2024, with plans for wider commercial rollout in 2025. The company has not yet disclosed the pricing.
Agility Robotics’ droids are primarily used for warehouse operations today, but the company plans to introduce them for last-mile delivery.
Analyst QuickTake: Today’s unveiling of the next-gen robot comes three years after introducing its first commercially available bi-pedal robot. The necessary funds for the development were made available to the company almost a year ago, when it raised USD 150 million in a Series B funding round, partially to ramp up the production and delivery of the next-gen Digit.
