Circ, a Virginia-based startup that recycles textile waste, has partnered with Zara, a Spanish multinational retail clothing chain, to release a line of women’s apparel made with recycled polyester and cotton fibers using Circ's hydrothermal process.
The “Circ x Zara” collection consists of three styles of women's apparel, including tie-front shorts, front-knotted blouse, and wide-leg trousers, made from 50% and 43% recycled poly-cotton waste lyocell and polyester, respectively. The line is priced at USD 69.90 and will be available in 11 markets from today. Zara claims that this is the first time that recycled polyester and lyocell clothing made from poly-cotton textile waste is available to consumers.
Analyst QuickTake: The partnership follows the investment from Inditex , Zara's parent company, in Circ's Series B funding round last year. Apart from Circ, Zara has also formed partnerships with circularity-focused textile recyclers, including Infinited Fiber Company, Renewcell, and Evrnu , as part of its commitment to circular fashion.
