Miovision, a Canadian traffic flow management solution provider, announced that it has acquired Global Traffic Technologies (GTT), a traffic management solution provider, for USD 107 million, representing its fourth acquisition.
The acquisition enables Miovision to fully integrate GTT's solution into its platform, which will improve safety and optimize urban transportation. GTT staff will become Miovision employees, increasing the company's presence in the US market to 100+ people, while GTT's customers will continue to receive support from Miovision. The acquisition brings the total number of intersections in which Miovision has a presence in North America to ~100,000.
Global Traffic Technologies (GTT) provides traffic management solutions aimed at enhancing transportation systems. Its flagship solution, Opticom, offers priority control solutions, with the largest deployment in North America, where it is currently installed in ~180,000 intersections and vehicles. The system provides emergency vehicles with pre-emption control, enabling them to bypass traffic signals and reach their destination quickly and safely. GTT's solutions are deployed in 3,100+ cities globally.
Analyst QuickTake: Miovision's recent acquisitions, including the acquisition of GTT, demonstrate the company's strategic efforts to expand its traffic management solutions and establish itself as a leading provider in the North American market. Through the integration of Rapid Flow Technologies' technology and the acquisition of Traffop, Miovision has been able to diversify its product offering and enhance its traffic management capabilities, providing a "software-only" traffic management solution to cities in the US.
