Svante, a Canadian carbon capture startup, has signed an MoU with Pilot Energy Limited, an Australian oil and gas exploration and production company, to offer carbon capture and storage (CCS) solutions.
Under the partnership, Svante will deploy its novel solid sorbent carbon capture and removal filter technology to capture CO2 emissions from the Western Australian Kwinana Industrial Area.
The captured CO2 emissions will then be transported to Pilot’s Cliff Head CO2 storage project, an offshore oil field. The two parties initially target to decarbonize eight million tons of CO2 per annum.
Analyst QuickTake: This collaboration follows Svante’s USD 5 million investment from United Airlines in March 2023, as part of the company’s Series E funding round, supporting its previously raised USD 318 million. The proceeds were used to support the company’s commercial-scale filter manufacturing facility deployment in British Columbia, Canada.
