AR MedTech company MediView XR has raised USD 15 million in a strategic funding round, with participation from Mayo Clinic, Cleveland Clinic, and GE HealthCare, among others, with additional commitment for its next funding round.
Funding will be utilized to create and enhance the company’s multi-level platform, prioritizing activities such as generating more clinical evidence, developing new products, protecting intellectual property, meeting regulatory requirements, achieving commercial goals, and launching new products.
MediView utilizes AR and surgical navigation to provide surgeons and healthcare professionals with 3D visualization of the inside of a patient’s body during minimally invasive procedures. Additionally, MediView's technologies are used to train surgeons by offering AR learning experiences. Currently, MediView has formed partnerships with GE Healthcare and Microsoft to deliver its technology.
Analyst QuickTake: Recent XR MedTech funding rounds include that of the medical MR visualization platform, SentiAR, in April 2023 , where funding was to be utilized for the expansion of clinical deployments and establishment of new partnerships. Additionally, XR surgical loupes manufacturer FYR Medical raised funding in February 2023 to create XR digital loupes for spinal surgery backed by light field technology.
