Meatable, a Dutch cultivated meat producer, has achieved a breakthrough in cultivated meat production, reducing the production time to just eight days, compared to months required by traditional farming methods.
The improved process claims to produce cultivated meat with the target levels of fat cells, muscle tissue, protein content, and flavor making the final product indistinguishable from conventional meat.
Meatable develops its cultivated meat by replicating the natural growth process of an isolated animal cell using Opti-ox technology in conjunction with pluripotent stem cells (PSCs). The company is gearing up for commercial launch by 2024 and working on further reducing production time.
Analyst QuickTake: Earlier this month, Meatable debuted cultivated pork sausage at a tasting event in Singapore. Participants in this event were to assist in refining and launching the products. During the event, Meatable announced that its commercial launch date of 2025 has been brought forward; it now plans to enter the Singaporean market by 2024, followed by a US launch.
