Onfido, a London-based virtual identity verification solutions provider, has announced the acquisition of digital identity-sharing technology developer Airside. The transaction has already been completed, although the details were not disclosed.
Through the acquisition, Onfido will develop an improved user experience that facilitates seamless onboarding and strengthens customer connections. This will help to reduce fraud risks and mitigate liability concerns linked to the handling of sensitive data.
Later this year, the Onfido products and services, built on Airside's technology, will be made generally available.
Analyst QuickTake: Onfido appears to be taking an inorganic approach to expand through acquisitions. For example, in October 2021, Onfido acquired biometric identity verification solutions provider EYN to integrate acoustic-based liveness detection and anti-spoofing technology.
