Serve Robotics, a spin-off from Uber operating delivery droids, has expanded its partnership with Uber Eats to deploy up to 2,000 delivery droids on Uber Eats' platform across multiple markets in the US. The collaboration is expected to continue until early 2026.
Serve Robotics first partnered with Uber Eats in November 2021 and commenced pilot operations in West Hollywood a year ago. Today, the companies revealed that Serve Robotics’ food deliveries with Uber Eats have grown by 30% MoM since launch, with 200+ restaurants in Los Angeles now participating in the program.
Neither party has disclosed the specific markets in focus, but as per sources, the duo is currently looking to launch the service in areas such as San Jose (California) and Dallas (Texas).
Analyst QuickTake: Automating last-mile delivery is not entirely a new experience for Uber. The company has entered multiple, similar partnerships with parties including peer droid-maker Cartken (December 2022; expanded in April 2023) and autonomous delivery vehicle (ADV) providers Motional (December 2021; went live in May 2022) and Nuro (September 2022), and Waymo (May 2023).
