Meati Foods lays off 5% of workforce

Management news

  • Meati Foods (formerly Emergy Food), a Boulder-based meat alternative manufacturer, has laid off 17 employees (5% of its 300-person workforce) of its Thornton production plant.

  • According to the company, management arrived at this decision following a discussion on the best allocation of company resources. The laid-off employees will receive the required care and assistance in securing new opportunities.

  • Analyst QuickTake: Meati Foods unveiled its Thornoton-based “Mega Ranch” earlier this year, backed by its Series C funding and additional investment from Rockefeller Capital. Meati Foods claimed the facility would be able to produce tens of millions of pounds per year by late 2023, putting Meati at a scale on par with and even surpassing some of the largest animal-based ranches in the US.
