Einride, a Swedish tech developer for autonomous and electric trucks, has begun the provision of its electric solutions in Norway. The company did so by expanding its partnership with PostNord, the leading Scandinavian postal service provider, with which it operates in Sweden. The electrification of PostNord's fleet in Norway replaces 1,500 km of operations previously covered by diesel-powered trucks.
The company’s freight ecosystem will be based on a grid system that is planned, optimized, and monitored using the Einride Saga platform. Einride will be responsible for all logistical touchpoints, including software, charging infrastructure, and maintenance.
Furthermore, the company’s grid system in the region, known as “Nordic Link,” will begin in the Oslo region and connect Norway, Sweden, and Denmark, to enable electric, digital, and autonomous cross-border transport in Scandinavia. Einride aims to connect the Nordic Link to the European mainland before 2025. Einride also reported plans to establish its charging infrastructure, Einride Stations, for its EV trucks along the grid in Norway.
Analyst QuickTake: Norway is the eighth market Einride operates in and closely follows its entry into the UK in March 2023 through its partnership with PepsiCo’s subsidiary, Walkers. The company reported plans to expand its operations in the country and establish a regional freight mobility grid along the M1, M5, and M6 between the cities of London, Sheffield, Manchester, Birmingham, and Bristol. Additionally, in May 2023 , the company also reported plans to establish operations in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) following an agreement with the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure (MOEI). Einride agreed to deploy an ecosystem of EVs, autonomous trucks, and chargers in the country, marking its first project in the region.
