Australian quantum hardware company Silicon Quantum Computing has closed a Series A funding round of AUD 50.4 million (USD 34 million), with participation from Commonwealth Bank, University of New South Wales, Telstra, and the Australian Government. The company had planned to raise AUD 130 million (USD 90 million) when it initially announced the Series A funding round in June 2022 .
This funding round was priced at AUD 1.75 per share, increasing the company’s valuation by more than 2x to AUD 195.3 million (USD 132 million).
The proceeds from the round will be used to accelerate the company’s hardware development plans, including introducing a 10-qubit prototype processor by 2023 and building a 100-qubit quantum device by 2028. The funds will also be used to support its strategic, operational, and growth initiatives.
