Amazon and Grubhub to deploy checkout-free convenience store at Loyola University, Maryland

Partnerships

  • Amazon has partnered with US-based online food delivery aggregator Grubhub to deploy a checkout-free convenience store at Loyola University in Maryland.

  • Students can enter the convenience store—powered by Amazon Just Walk Out technology—by scanning a QR code from Grubhub's mobile app. They can then pick up their purchases and exit the store to complete the checkout process. The items will be charged to the payment method saved on the Grubhub app or onto their meal plan.

  • Analyst QuickTake: Amazon recently launched its Just Walk Out technology for the first time at a higher education institution in partnership with Marymount University in Arlington . The partnership with Grubhub will enable Amazon to further expand its services into universities by leveraging Grubhub’s strong partnership network. Grubhub currently has partnerships with 300 higher education institutions.
