La Vie partners with Sainsbury’s to launch vegan BLT

  • French plant-based meat producer La Vie (formerly 77 Foods) has partnered with British supermarket chain Sainsbury's to offer a new vegan version of the BLT sandwich (VLT) in the latter’s lunchtime meal deal.

  • The VLT sandwich, sold under Sainsbury's Plant Pioneers brand, contains La Vie bacon, lettuce, tomato, and vegan baconnaise. This sandwich is available as part of a meal deal that includes a snack and a drink for GBP 3.50 (~USD 4.4) at over 800 Sainsbury's stores across the UK. 

  • Analyst QuickTake: Sainsbury was one of the first outlets to carry La Vie bacon when it first launched in the UK . The brand partnered with Burger King to make its UK debut and followed it up with a partnership with Burger King France to further expand its availability.
