Cinis Fertilizer, a Swedish company that converts industrial waste into sulfate of potash (SOP) fertilizer, has signed a long-term agreement with K+S Minerals and Agriculture (K+S) for the purchase and delivery of potassium chloride for Cinis Fertilizer's first two production facilities in Örnsköldsvik and Skellefteå in Sweden.
The first plant in Örnsköldsvik will produce approximately 100,000 tons of potassium sulfate per year starting in early 2024, while the second plant, with a production capacity of approximately 200,000 tons, is scheduled to commence production in mid-2025.
Analyst QuickTake: Cinis Fertilizer continues to secure partnerships in its efforts to commence commercial production of its fossil-free potassium sulfate. Previously, in June 2023, the company partnered with BASF for deliveries of sodium sulfate for its four plants, expected to be operational by 2028. The company also received the environmental permit for the Örnsköldsvik plant in May and the building permit for the Skellefteå plant early this year.
