Tofurky, a leading alternative meat producer, represented by The Good Food Institute (GFI) and the Animal Legal Defense Fund (ALDF), has filed challenges against meat censorship laws in Texas that came into effect on September 1.
The law prohibits plant-based meat sellers from using terms such as meat, pork, poultry, or beef to describe their products to avoid misleading advertising and consumer confusion on plant-based food products.
Tofurky argued that the requirements of the law were vague and could incur significant redesign costs for plant-based producers.
