Climeworks, a Swiss direct air capture (DAC) startup, has partnered with Carbfix, an Icelandic carbon sequestration company, and Puro.earth, a Finnish startup offering a B2B carbon trading marketplace and registry for carbon removal credits, to certify Climeworks' carbon dioxide removal (CDR) services under the Puro Standard.
The partnership aims to advance the standardization of Climeworks’ direct air capture + storage (DAC+S) projects to align with the restructuring and quality requirements of voluntary carbon markets (VCMs),
The integration of Puro standard will enhance the quality of Climeworks' Orca project , which was verified by DNV, an international risk management and assurance provider, in September 2022 .
