Deep Sky, a Canadian carbon removal project developer, has partnered with Mission Zero Technologies (MZT), a UK-based Direct Air Capture (DAC) company, to deploy DAC facilities in Canada as a part of the former's Alpha Lab test facility. Initially, the partnership would build a demonstration facility in Quebec in 2024 that is slated to capture 250 tons of CO2 annually.
Once MZT's electrochemical separation technology is validated, Deep Sky expects to commercialize the DAC facilities to capture 100,000 to one million tons of CO2 annually.
The pilot plant is to be preceded by successful demonstrations of Mission Zero's technology at two UK sites later in 2023 for the production of synthetic aviation fuels and building materials.
In August 2023 , Deep Sky also partnered with Svante to evaluate the feasibility of carbon sequestration in Southern Quebec.
