Infarm enters administration

Management news

  • Infarm - Indoor Urban Farming GmbH, a British hydroponic vertical farming system startup offering herbs and green leaves, has entered administration under the laws of England and Wales and the Insolvency Rules.

  • Gordon Thomson and Damian Webb of RSM UK Restructuring Advisory have subsequently been appointed as joint administrators of the company.

  • Analyst QuickTake: Infarm entered administration after the relocation of its headquarters and operations from Berlin to London in July 2023. Last month, the company's Dutch branch declared bankruptcy in Amsterdam due to the termination of payment suspensions. Impacted by the ongoing energy crisis in Europe, Infarm also downsized operations in the UK, France, and the Netherlands, resulting in the layoff of up to 500 employees in November 2022 and the cessation of operations in Frankfurt and Copenhagen in April 2023. Similarly, last month, OneFarm —a company also operating in the hydroponic vertical farming space—filed a notice of intention (NOI) for its UK subsidiary, seeking to appoint administrators in an effort to avoid liquidation.
