Amazon to close two Amazon Go-powered apparel stores

Product updates

  • Amazon has announced plans to close two of its Amazon Go-powered brick-and-mortar apparel stores as the company shifts its focus to online apparel store formats. The company, however, still plans to invest in its brick-and-mortar grocery store concepts, which include Amazon Fresh, Whole Foods Market, Amazon Go, and third-party partnerships.

  • The company will close two of its apparel store locations located at Columbus, Ohio, and Glendale, California.

  • Analyst QuickTake: Amazon launched its retail fashion concept in January 2022 and, in May 2022, opened the Glendale store to the public. The company also recently launched a new RFID-powered “Just Walk Out” format for clothing retailers.
