CarbiCrete, a Canadian developer of low-cost building solutions using CO2, has completed a technology optimization project at a concrete plant in Quebec. It was funded by an investment of USD 8 million that was majorly supported by NGen, a Canadian non-profit organization for advanced manufacturing, which contributed USD 3.4 million.
CarbiCrete led this project in partnership with Innovobot Labs and Patio Drummond to automate the production of carbon-negative concrete blocks. As of November 2023, Patio Drummond produces 2,400 concrete blocks per day using CarbiCrete’s technology from two curing chambers at its Drummondville hardscape plant.
In addition, Innovobot Labs provided a software platform that collects production data to track and validate CarbiCrete’s technology.
