StoreDot, an Israeli extreme fast charging (XFC) battery developer, has partnered with Polestar, an automotive brand focused on electric performance cars, to explore and apply XFC technology in EVs.
Under this partnership, Polestar and StoreDot are endeavoring to demonstrate the feasibility of StoreDot’s XFC battery-cell technology in a real-world scenario. They are working on applying this technology to a Polestar 5 prototype vehicle expected to be ready by 2024.
Analyst QuickTake: Last month , StoreDot partnered with Flex|N|Gate, a global automotive component manufacturer, to sample and scale up the commercialization of StoreDot's batteries. As such, StoreDot’s 100in5 battery cells will be produced at Flex|N|Gate’s lithium-ion cell pilot factory in Windsor, Ontario, in 2024. The company also partnered with Volvo Cars in September 2023 , where the two companies agreed to develop an EV battery for the upcoming generation of Volvo EVs.
