Israeli biotechnology firm ProFuse Technology has partnered with Estonian company Gelatex Technologies to expand the capacity and accelerate the production of cell-cultured meat.
Through this partnership, ProFuse has combined its media supplement with Gelatex’s plant-based scaffolds to develop a method that claims to reduce the chicken muscle growth cycle to 48 hours and enhance the protein content of cell-cultured meat.
The companies plan to offer their nanofiber scaffolds and detailed protocols for optimal muscle growth to interested parties for optimizing cell-cultured meat production.
Analyst QuickTake: Last year, Gelatex announced it had reduced scaffolding costs from EUR 100,000 (~USD 109,000) to EUR 1,000 (~USD 1,099) per kg, enabling cost-effective cell-cultured meat production. On the other hand, ProFuse Technology achieved a breakthrough that accelerated muscle growth time by 80% and enabled the production of muscle tissue with 5x protein content than that of animal meat.
