SQIM secures EUR 11 million in Series A funding to expand industrial operations

Funding

  • SQIM, an Italian manufacturer of mycelium-based wall, floor, and acoustic treatment products, has raised EUR 11 million (~USD 12 million) in a Series A funding round co-led by CDP Venture Capital and ECBF VC, with participation from Kering Ventures and existing investor Progress Tech Transfer.

  • The company plans to use the funds to expand industrial operations with a new demonstration facility, accelerate R&D, and strengthen its team.

  • Founded in 2015, SQIM is a mycelium-based biomaterials company that offers a range of wall, floor, and acoustic treatment products for the textile, leather, interior, and automotive industries. EPHEA and MOGU are the company's two business lines and brands. The company claims 87% of its floor tiles are made from bio-based resin. The company, whose legal name is currently "MOGU SRL," is commonly known as "SQIM" and is in the process of adopting the latter as its legal name.
