AMSilk, a spider silk biopolymer producer and a subsidiary of Switzerland-based Givaudan , has partnered with 21st.BIO, a Danish bioindustrial scale-up company, to develop a new protein-producing strain derived from precision-fermented microorganisms.
With new production strains, AMSilk expects to scale up production from laboratory to industrial scale to meet demand, expand its portfolio to include different types of fibers and proteins, and significantly reduce unit costs.
