Steakholder Foods expands 3D-printed seafood portfolio with shrimp

Product updates

  • Steakholder Foods, an Israeli food tech company, has expanded its 3D bio-printed seafood portfolio with 3D-printed shrimps. Precision printed using its DropJet printer, the shrimp will be offered to potential customers on a plant-based or hybrid (plants and cultivated cells) basis.

  • The DropJet printer by Steakholder Foods is a high-volume production system specially designed for seafood alternatives. It uses custom bio-inks developed by the company’s technology team and offers an environmentally-friendly alternative to traditional shrimp farming.

  • Analyst QuickTake: Earlier this month, the company unveiled the first product of its 3D-printed seafood portfolio, a plant-based 3D-printed eel. Claimed to be the first of its kind, it contained a unique ingredient list that mimicked the complex texture of a real eel.
