Chunk Foods, a plant-based meat company specializing in whole-cut meat alternatives, has secured USD 7.5 million in seed extension funding. This round was led by Cheyenne Ventures, bringing the seed funding total to USD 22 million.
The fresh funding is earmarked for expanding its commercial and operations teams across the US to secure nationwide distribution and boost the number of local distribution alliances. Furthermore, the company plans to increase production capacity in response to customer demand.
Following the new capital infusion, Chunk Foods inked a strategic partnership with Mexico-based multinational food processing company Sigma Alimentos. Through the partnership, the company will supply plant-based proteins for Sigma’s Better Balance product line, slated for food service and retail availability later this year.
Analyst QuickTake: Chunk Foods has struck several partnerships with food service establishments, including The Talk of the Town Restaurant Group , Neat Burger , and Monster Vegan , to expand the distribution of Chunk Steak. The partnership with Sigma Alimentos is its largest collaboration to date and will provide access to the Latin American market.
