Vegan Food Group acquires TOFUTOWN

M&A

  • Vegan Food Group (VFG), the holding company formerly known as VFC Foods, has confirmed its purchase of TOFUTOWN, a Germany-based producer of plant-based foods, for an undisclosed sum.

  • Established in 1989 by Bernd Drosihn, TOFUTOWN specializes in supplying organic tofu, spreads, and meat-alternative products within the EU region. It has a substantial manufacturing capacity and distributes products to major retailers like Aldi, Lidl, DM, and Edeka.

  • This consolidation will allow VFG to boost operational efficiencies and economies of scale by leveraging collective resources and expertise to expedite its growth within the UK and EU markets. The expansion will mainly focus on chilled, frozen, and ambient goods in branded and own-label products for retail and foodservice.

  • Analyst QuickTake: Following its rebrand as the Vegan Food Group, the company announced its acquisition-led growth strategy to become the vegan industry equivalent of Unilever. At the time of this update, VFG operations span 21,000 distribution points with a selection of 80 stock-keeping units.
