LanzaJet receives USD 30 million investment from Southwest Airlines

  • LanzaJet, a LanzaTech spin-off that produces sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) using low-carbon ethanol, received a USD 30 million investment from Southwest Airlines, an NYSE-listed airline company.

  • As part of the agreement, LanzaJet and Southwest will work together to develop a SAF production facility. LanzaJet will also support the commercialization of SAFFiRE Renewables’ corn stover to ethanol technology, a company in which Southwest has invested.

  • Analyst QuickTake: Southwest’s investment comes on the heels of the opening of LanzaJet Freedom Pines Fuels facility , the world’s first commercial-scale ethanol to SAF plant, unveiled last month. The facility is located in Soperton, Georgia, and can produce 10 million gallons of drop-in SAF and renewable diesel annually.
