Rivian launches three new EV models

Product updates

  • Rivian Automotive, an American EV manufacturer, has launched R2, a midsize electric SUV, and R3, a midsize crossover. The latter also comes in a performance variant known as R3X.

  • The R2 and R3 will feature two battery sizes. The larger will be capable of over 300 m on a single charge and zero to 60 mph acceleration in under three seconds.

  • The R2 prices are expected to begin at USD 45,000, while the R3 will be priced below R2 as a more accessible option. The R2 is currently available for reservations, with deliveries expected to begin in the first half of 2026. The R3 and R3X deliveries will begin after the R2.

  • Analyst QuickTake: In February 2024 , Rivian reported plans to expand access to its EV charger network. The company’s “Adventure Network” is set to be available for non-Rivian EVs in 2H 2024. However, the company also laid off 10% of its salaried workforce during the same month due to economic challenges, including high-interest rates and geopolitical uncertainties, quarterly losses, and increased competition in the EV market.
