Vow secures regulatory approval for cultivated quail form SFA

Regulation/policy

  • Vow, an Australian cultivated meat producer, has received regulatory approval from the Singapore Food Agency (SFA) to manufacture and sell the world's first cultivated quail product, Quailia.

  • Quailia is made from the cells of Japanese quail without animal-derived serum or antibiotics. It will launch as the Forged Parfait under the Forge brand, consisting of butter, shallot, tapioca starch, port wine, garlic, brandy, vegetable and fruit concentrate, olive oil, salt, and thyme.

  • Analyst QuickTake: Vow focuses on developing exotic cultivated meats like kangaroo, alpaca, and buffalo and unveiled a cell-cultured wooly mammoth meatball in March 2023. With this approval, Vow has become the fourth cultivated meat company to receive regulatory approval along with UPSIDE Foods , Eat JUST , and Aleph Farms . In addition, the company has initiated regulatory processes in New Zealand and plans to secure approval in the US.
