EFISHient Protein, an Israeli cultivated meat startup, has completed the development of a Tilapia cell line, paving the way for sustainable, cultivated seafood production.
This cell line can be used to produce muscle and fat cells of Tilapia, contributing significantly toward the establishment of a genetic cell bank. Furthermore, the company plans to scale production and provide its technology to B2B customers at cost-competitive prices.
Analyst QuickTake: The company unveiled its first Tilapia prototype based on the Nile Tilapia in December 2023 . It aims to eventually cultivate fish without animal-derived serum and expedite the development of sustainable white fish alternatives.
