Meatable conducts first approved cultivated meat tasting in the EU

Industry news

  • Meatable, a Dutch cultivated meat company, recently held the first cultivated meat tasting in the EU following its approval for product safety from the third-party committee sanctioned by the Dutch government. The tasting event held at its new headquarters in Leiden featured its cultivated pork sausages derived from pig cells.

  • Meatable produces cultivated sausages using its proprietary Opti-OX technology. This technology allows the company to generate sausages from a single pig cell within four days, and it claims to be 60x faster than traditional farming methods.

  • Analyst QuickTake: This event is a milestone for the company and the EU, where cultivated meat approval processes are trailing behind those of the US and Singapore. Further, Meatable recently unveiled a production breakthrough that allows it to produce cultivated meat within four days.
