Meatable, a Dutch cultivated meat company, recently held the first cultivated meat tasting in the EU following its approval for product safety from the third-party committee sanctioned by the Dutch government. The tasting event held at its new headquarters in Leiden featured its cultivated pork sausages derived from pig cells.
Meatable produces cultivated sausages using its proprietary Opti-OX technology. This technology allows the company to generate sausages from a single pig cell within four days, and it claims to be 60x faster than traditional farming methods.
Analyst QuickTake: This event is a milestone for the company and the EU, where cultivated meat approval processes are trailing behind those of the US and Singapore. Further, Meatable recently unveiled a production breakthrough that allows it to produce cultivated meat within four days.
