Meatable, a Dutch cultivated meats producer, has achieved a new milestone, halving its previous production timeframe. According to the company, it can now produce cultivated sausages from cells in just four days, which claims to be 60x faster than conventional pig farming.
Meatable's proprietary technology platform expedites production by using Opti-ox technology in conjunction with pluripotent stem cells (PSCs). The platform simulates natural cell growth, enabling faster differentiation into muscle and fat cells, ensuring that the cultivated meat maintains the same nutritional profile as traditional meat.
Analyst QuickTake: In May 2023 , Meatable announced it had reduced the production time for cultivated meats to just eight days. Further, in November 2023 , it unveiled a 3,300 sq m pilot facility with 200 l bioreactors, expandable up to 500 l. The new milestone and increased production capacity will aid the company in developing cost-effective cultivated products as it gears up for commercial launch in 2024.
