Cepton, a manufacturer of LiDAR sensors, has launched a new LiDAR simulation platform called StudioViz. It is designed to aid the adoption of LiDAR technology and accelerate the development and implementation of LiDAR-based advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) and autonomous vehicles (AV).

StudioViz enables the creation of virtual environments for testing LiDAR-based systems, visualizes high-fidelity lidar data, optimizes sensor placement, assesses sensor fusion, and aids in perception solution development.

This platform reduces costs and time associated with hardware integration and data acquisition, offering an efficient solution for testing, validating, and refining LiDAR-based ADAS and AV solutions.

Peer LiDAR maker Luminar Technologies partnered with Applied Intuition for LiDAR simulation in April 2024, while Helm.ai, a developer of ADAS and AV software, released a new high-fidelity virtual scenario generation model for developing ADAS and AV systems in April this year . Additionally, Foretellix, an Israel-based developer of verification and validation platforms for ADAS solutions, introduced a new high-fidelity sensor simulation service to enhance AV performance and safety in March 2024.
